Close the day in ten minutes

The end of a busy day is when mistakes get buried. A fixed routine makes them visible while you still remember what happened.

The routine

• Make sure no table is still open and no bill is unpaid.
• Count the cash drawer and enter the amount. The difference is shown against what the system expected.
• Look at the day’s sales by payment method: cash, card, wallets.
• Print the day’s report and lock the day.

Why lock it

A locked day cannot be changed quietly. A correction after that is a new, visible document such as a credit note, which is what your accountant and the IRD want to see.
